5/25/11 Silver Bay Colt

When I compare this colt to his full brother, Amigo, I am not sure I am not seeing a re-creation. Redi has the longest, most hooked neck of any of Salsa's foals so far, and his hip is amazing. He has that total Salsa "look", from end to end. He has been lab tested to be a silver bay - a rare and beautiful color for a rare and beautiful colt. Redi is AMHA and AMHR Futurity Nominated and is Parent Qualified.

5/8/11 Chestnut Filly

We knew Rose would be a good cross with Salsa, but this filly is even more refined, upright and elegant that I expected. She is the smallest so far, and the most refined. She makes me look twice as she is running about the pasture, as I think Marimba is back! An elegant dished head with tiny, pointed ears, a hookey neck and a long, level hip - she as all of the qualities we expect from our Salsa foals.

Black Filly 4-3-2010

Cattie has a new little sister born Saturday evening. She is black with a faint half moon on her exquisite forehead. She definitely has her mother's beautiful head and her father's long, upright neck.  Bailar carried this filly an amazing 356 days. She was born needing her first hoof trim! This filly trots like a park horse! Macarena will remain with us as a show filly and future broodmare and is not for sale.

Chestnut Colt with Star 4-8-2010

Missy's colt is chestnut with a big white star. He has an amazing, short sculpted head and a long neck set very high. He reminds me of Amigo when he was born. This boy's hip is long and already level and he has a nice, short back.  As he gets older he is getting darker and darker, with black around his eyes and in his neck. I think he is going to be a stunning liver chestnut color!  Plans have changed for Avatar, as Emily has another horse now, so Avatar is now offered for sale.

Chestnut Pinto Filly 4-17-2010

This filly is tall and leggy,, with a great short head and long, high set neck. She carries 75% Arenosa blood and has that great movement we have come to expect from Midge's foals. Like Avatar, she is getting a lot of very dark, nearly black, color to her. Her mother is a deep liver chestnut and it looks like Mandolin will follow suit! She is offered for sale.

Chestnut Filly 5-21-2010

You can tell when a foal is going to be the clown of the pasture when she falls into the pond the first day she is out in the backyard! Mia is a delightful filly, and my oh my Momma Mia she is a beauty! She is Amigo's full sister and Sunny has done it again. That incredible front end with the "Salsa Hook" in her neck. The short face with the huge eye. The long, level hip, the straight legs, and a short, strong back. She is all legs as a foal should be. And, she has already had her first swimming lesson! Mia will no doubt follow in her big brother's hoof prints with Supremes and World Championships in her future.

7/31/10 Black Pinto Filly

Ember is very special for many reasons. She is a beautiful black pinto with a delicate head, long arched neck and a super correct, dainty body. She is friendly and elegant.

Ember was named in honor and in remembrance of Kim Richard Peterson, who passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2010. Ember arrived in this world during the barbecue following Kim's memorial service. Everyone who was here to honor and remember Kim got to see her arrival, and she and her mom then joined us in the backyard for the rest of the day. A very, very special filly indeed!

Black Pinto Colt 6-5-2010

Zip is an absolute darling! He has four white socks, minimal pinto markings, a small, well shaped head and nice straight legs. Zip got his mom's tiny throatlatch with his dad's high neck set - the best of both parents. He is a great moving little guy who will  certainly be a driving horse of contention.

Chestnut Colt - 9-13-10

This much awaited full brother to Black Bean Salsa and Intoxicating was born early Monday morning. He has all of the same exceptional attributes of Amigo, Caliente, Bella and Beannie. This colt has the most amazing ears - they are tiny and always pointed straight forward, His head is tiny and very short. Billy will prove to be another World and National Champion before he is a full year old!

This delightful colt got his name the minute he arrived.  Robyn and Sheryl helped Princess with her first delivery, and when this colt popped out Robyn shouted "Mom, it's Missouri all over again!"  Missouri was Robyn's Pony Club and Eh Capa horse and her best friend when she was a teenager.  Missouri has since passed away, and this colt looks so much like him that there is no way he could have any other name.

Lauren gave Sassy her name, as she was sassing her mother moments after she was born.  Black with four white socks, an "apostrophe" on her withers and a "dash" over her tail, she moves big like her siblings.  She is refined, and has a great, dished head.  She is a definite halter and driving prospect.

Thursday, May 3rd started out great with the arrival of Hailey's filly at 3am.  But by 8pm all of us here were devastated.  We lost Paul and Karen's wonderful little stallion, W&LDs Cherokee Flash, that evening. As we were leaving the barn shortly after the vet left we found Bailar in labor, and in real trouble.  Her filly had a front leg hooked over her neck and could not be born.  Paul rescued the filly for us, and Flash's spirit was reborn minutes after he left this world. If not for Flash, we would have lost this filly.  With our hearts breaking over the loss of Flash, we greeted this elegant filly in his name.  Thank you, Flash, for your last gift to this world.  You will always be remembered in the spirit of this filly.

Angel got her name because she is such a little devil.  Into everything since she was born, this is the "pest" of this year's foal crop.  She is well balanced and elegant and she knows she is beautiful.
